Welcome to my digital den! I’m thrilled to share with you not just my journey, but also my passion for the intricate world of coin and currency collecting!
My name is Jesse and I’m an avid coin collector, coin roll hunter, bill searcher, and metal detecting.. nut? Below you’ll find a few things, like who I am and what I hunt for. Enjoy!
Who I Am.. in a nutshell
I’m a collector, like you, but I’m also a husband, a father, a step-father, a foster parent, and an entrepreneur. I grew up in Canada but have been fortunate enough to live in several countries along the way before moving to the US 14 years ago. Since moving here, we were blessed with the birth of our daughter. We also lost one, but that didn’t stop us from dreaming of a bigger family so we became foster parents in 2023. It hasn’t been easy.. but this is what we signed up for. We were already a multi-racial family but this experience has given us opportunities we didn’t think possible. As of the time I’m writing this, we’re around 9 months into fostering two half-brothers; a newborn and a 7 year old. It’s rough but again, it’s what we signed up for. It’s going to be worse when we eventually see them go but hopefully it won’t be goodbye. I’d love to put a picture below of our family however it’s extremely frowned upon to post pictures of foster children so until I can come across a picture of just the 3 of us (sorry Will Smith), you’ll have to settle for my gorgeous mug from the videos.
When I’m not doing the “family thing” or working through a box of coins, I run a small family business that I started in 2013. Unfortunately Covid did a number on it and it hasn’t bounced back the way that I had hoped it would. So with an ever expanding family and a need for another box of coins, new revenue streams are needed.
So in 2023, I’m starting a new adventure… I’m going online! With an IT background it only made logical sense. So, I’ve started a YouTube channel, as well as several other social media sites, and my goal is to share my love for coin roll hunting, coin collecting, bill searching, and metal detecting with the world! I’ve been incredibly active on many YouTube channels over the years and the one thing I’ve seen over and over is just how awesome this community is! I want to do more and give to this incredible community (and add a little of my twisted humor along the way). Hopefully you’ll enjoy what I have to offer and get a few chuckles along the way. So, dive in and let’s explore the value beyond the monetary, where every coin tells a tale and every bill narrates a bygone era. Happy collecting!
Warning: I’m not a professional video editor, nor am I a numismatic expert, but I’ll do my best. I’m also not a full-time blogger… but I’m hoping to! All I can say is that I will get better as I go so buckle up, settle in, and grab a roll or two of your own coins or straps of currency! If you have some recommendations, please feel free to comment on my videos or on some of the blog posts on this site. I will do my best to respond to ALL comments.
Want To Help?
This won’t be easy! YouTube has made it very difficult to succeed and I won’t be able to monitize my videos for quite some time. It takes thousands and thousands of views, just as many likes and a ton of subscriptions to get this moving. Creating content isn’t free and a significant amount of time and effort is going into producing quality videos to educate and entertain you.
Every view, every subscription, every comment counts! I hope I can count on you. I will most likely open up some options for sponsorship (small donations, Patreon and other services) but the most important thing you can do to help is just be active on my videos. Like, subscribe, comment, and share.. the usual jargon you hear at the end of every video you watch. If you want to go further and support this endeavor, thank you! Don’t feel obligated though, but thank you. A few dollars goes a long way and it will help me get better equipment and better software. I will also put Amazon links on my videos, sites, and posts. I hope you will consider using them. Using my links helps to kick back a few bucks to me and it doesn’t cost you a single penny. Thank you for your help!
.. and with that, I’m ready to crack open another roll. Happy hunting! (I’m still working on my catch phrase…. this isn’t it.)
What do I hunt?
If I had the time and the funds to do it, everything! I’m a big collector and find it very difficult to let things go but for fun, you’ll find my videos generally focus on the below items. Once I get this site organized, you should find a tab in the main menu showing a list of what I look for under each denomination. There’s LOTS to keep an eye open for so come back often to see what’s updated. I’ll create a master list of what to watch for so you don’t have to guess or memorize an ever-growing list.
- Coin Roll Hunting: Pennies (I have about 40 boxes under my desk.. I’ll post a link later to a video I’m making that shows just how many I’ve hid there. Don’t tell my wife! She thinks they are empty.)
- Coin Roll Hunting: Nickels (A little less the other coins.. I just don’t find them overly exciting but I do have Whitman Folders that need to be filled so until it’s all done, I’ll always have a box kicking around somewhere.)
- Coin Roll Hunting: Dimes (These are my least favorite! They are brutal to see the dates and as far as I know, they don’t have the same volume of varieties and errors that other coins, like pennies, have. Again, I have Whitman Folders to fill and I just started an Ugly Dime Collection.)
- Coin Roll Hunting: Quarters (I love quarters, but unfortunately silver quarters don’t like me! I’ve only found a couple BUT I have a ton of errors that I’ve picked up over the years. I’ll post some links here soon that show you a some of my videos.)
- Currency Searching: $1 Notes (I love, Love, LOVE $1 notes… and my bank LOVES to give me them too so I always have a stack of $1000 $1 notes kicking around somewhere. I have plans to make a video on how I get so many without issues from my banks. I’ll post a link here when I do.)
- Currency Searching: $5 Notes (sort of… I get them but I’ve had a brutal time finding star notes. As of the time I am writing this, I’ve found 2 lol).
